weekend on the north shore, minnesota✨☔️🍂 weekend on the north shore, minnesota✨☔️🍂 story time‼️ while we were in Grand Marais, Minnesota today, we were walking behind a man with a takeout box at Artists Point, a popular outdoor space near downtown and right on Lake Superior. “Someone’s slacking. The trash is full,” he said. He looked around, shrugged, and left his trash on the ground next to the can. Later, Bella and I came back with a trash bag and picked it up. Please keep in mind when recreating in rural areas that we do not have the staff to pick up after your trash. There isn’t always a park ranger to come empty the trash whenever it fills. There aren’t the facilities, the resources or the people of a city. When you’re a tourist in a town, you’re a guest in that town. When you leave trash on the ground by the lake, it ends up in the lake. Lake Superior holds 10% of the world’s freshwater. It’s the primary drinking water source for so many, including me. Your trash is your responsibility, even when it’s inconvenient to you. Leave no trace ethics do not end at the trailhead. #minnesota #northshore #grandmaraismn

i’ve spent the last four years practicing findin i’ve spent the last four years practicing finding beauty in dark places ✨🍂❄️ learning to love the winter, the parts of a long dark night that are lovely, the bare trees in moonlight. for me, november and march are always the hardest months to love— they feel gray and colorless, but that’s not always true. here are some of my favorites from novembers; a reminder to myself to look for the bright spots and hang in there. even in novembers, there is something beautiful here— there is something here worth fighting for 💗 photos 1 & 4 by @emksks 💞
