This was out of my comfort zone!!!☀️ Last su This was out of my comfort zone!!!☀️ Last summer, I started hosting/guiding group trips for the first time! I’m a long time (since 2018) sea kayaking guide and throughout the years I’ve had a lot of people ask if I’d ever consider running trips through social media and I was suppppppper hesitant for a long time— I sort of thought it would be best to keep my real life and online life separate, always. I feel like I’m really different in person from online. But last winter people kept asking if I ran custom trips like that and I decided that I guide for strangers, there’s no real reason I can’t guide for people who found me online and… They were honestly the best trips I’ve ever run and been a part of. In June, I hosted a women’s guided climb (I don’t climb lol!) with @climbforged , a small and local Minnesota outfitter and it was a BLAST. The vibes were incredible and it was such a cool experience to see all of these women who wanted to try something in new in the outdoors come together and cheer for each other (and for me, bc I am terrible at climbing!) After that, I guided two overnight sea kayaking trips in the Apostles, my home turf with @chicas_abroad , though the two trips couldn’t have been more different— one with the wildest weather ever and one with the calmest I’ve seen the lake and a tailwind the whole way— both of the trips where incredible in their own way. I thought I would really struggle to guide and host trips like this but I didn’t. They just turned out to be a really cool way to guide and hang out with a bunch of women who I have a lot in common with, and who have a lot in common with each other. this trend but you’ve always been self-critical🫠🤷🏼‍♀️ when this trend started coming across my feed I had to laugh, because my younger self and I are pretty different, and I can’t be the only one who feels this way, who feels more than a few complicated feelings about her younger self.
